About The 48 Laws Of Power PDF:

3000 years of history of power is distilled into 48 well-explicated laws that will help the reader either in gaining, observing or defending against power. Each law is illustrated by the tactics wielded by famous figures from throughout history, those who have wielded, and those who were victimized by power.

This book is based on self-improvement and was originally published on 1999. The 48 laws are illustrated through the tactics, triumphs and failures of great figures from the past who have wielded – or been victimized by – power.

Summary of The 48 laws of power PDF:

The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene is a self-help book offering advice on how to gain and maintain power, using lessons drawn from parables and the experiences of historical figures.

Power depends on the relationships between a person and those he or she seeks to control. Powerful people must cultivate their appearances to earn respect and eliminate doubt. They must practice selective honesty, misdirection, and an excess of secrecy to gain a tactical advantage. Timing is central to maintaining power, as is the ability to adapt. The array of strategies available when seeking power include mirroring the opponent’s actions and controlling the opponent’s options for action. The powerful must also cultivate a relationship with audiences by creating spectacles and feeding their need to believe in the impossible.

In some cases, courtiers represent the ideal models for how to acquire power and handle enemies. Other models of the strategies of power include generals of ancient Eastern and Western military history, famous confidence men, and entertainers. The laws of power can also be reversed in order to achieve results in situations that demand unconventional strategies. For example, while it is generally best to appear less intelligent than the target of a manipulation, intimidating someone with intelligence can accomplish what feigned ignorance could not.

About Author:

Robert Greene was born on May 14, 1959 in Los Angeles, California. He attended the University of California, Berkeley before transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he received a B.A. in classical studies. Before becoming an author, he worked a variety of jobs including construction worker, translator, magazine editor, and Hollywood movie writer. In 1995, he worked as a writer at Fabrica, an art and media school in Italy, and met a book packager named Joost Elffers. Greene pitched a book about power to Elffers and wrote a draft, which eventually became his first book, The 48 Laws of Power. His other works include The Art of Seduction, The 33 Strategies of War, The 50th Law, and Mastery.

  • Truly amazing book with lot of interesting ideas...
I might not agree with all of the concepts presented,
but it is definitely worth your time. You get a lot
    just by skimming through it.
  • I believe that The 48 Laws of Power is a collection
of precious advice in the time of war and political
conflicts. It is useful in the live-or-die situations
where lack of power incurs a real threat. Although
some Laws give food for thought in a professional
environment, the book doesn't really apply to this
environment as it, in my opinion, will backfire and
causes loss of a professional brand that managers
or leaders strive to build throughout years.
